George Boateng Criticizes GFA’s Poor Decisions Over Black Stars’ AFCON Struggles

George Boateng criticizes the GFA for poor decisions, blaming them for the Black Stars' disappointing AFCON performance.

Former Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng, has blamed the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) poor decisions for the national team’s struggles at AFCON. He believes a lack of continuity and strategic planning has negatively affected the team’s performance.

Speaking on SuperSport’s Soccer Africa, Boateng stressed that frequent changes in the coaching staff have disrupted the team’s progress. He stated, “I strongly believe in continuity. The federation must analyze its decisions to avoid further setbacks.”

The Black Stars’ early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast disappointed many fans. In response, the GFA dissolved the technical team led by head coach Chris Hughton. However, Boateng believes this decision may have worsened the team’s problems.

Many analysts and fans share Boateng’s concerns. The frequent turnover of coaches and the absence of a long-term strategy have weakened the team. Without stability, Ghana will continue to struggle on the continental stage.

As the GFA plans the team’s future, Boateng urges careful decision-making. He insists that consistency in leadership and planning is essential for long-term success.
