Mystic Twins Claim Daddy Lumba Lived “Too Long” to Protect His Legacy

Ghanaian spiritual duo, the Mystic Twins—McMaine and McKenzie—have sparked controversy with bold spiritual insights following the death of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM, the twin brothers suggested that Daddy Lumba’s legacy would have been damaged had he lived longer.
“If Daddy Lumba had lived up to 70 or 80, his name would have been spoilt. Legends don’t live long. He lived too long,” they claimed.
According to the twins, known privately as Nana Akwasi Agyemang Panyin (McMaine) and Nana Akwasi Agyemang Kakra (McKenzie), negative stories about the legendary
musician had already begun to circulate even before his passing, hinting that a longer life might have opened the door to further character attacks.
The duo—who describe themselves as spiritual messengers—shared deeper thoughts on the relationship between spirituality and the music industry.
They criticized many so-called prophets as “emotional opportunists” and insisted that false death prophecies have no real power.
“We are messengers from God; you’ll go after you’re done delivering your message,” they emphasized.
Referring specifically to a recent prophecy about Shatta Wale by Counselor DY Donkor, they asserted that while death is inevitable, it won’t be dictated by fake spiritual predictions.
“Shatta Wale will go when his time is up, not because of any false prophecy,” they added.
The Mystic Twins are known for blending music with spiritual insight, claiming that music itself carries divine energy.
Their comments come in the wake of the passing of Daddy Lumba, who was recognize as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, who reportedly died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at age 59.
His death was confirmed by a family representative through his own radio station, DLFM.

Widely regarded as a titan of Ghanaian Highlife music,
Daddy Lumba’s career spanned over three decades, during which he released numerous chart-topping hits and shaped the sound of a generation.
