NPP Vows to Oust Mahama’s Government in 2028 Comeback Drive

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched an aggressive plan to reclaim power in 2028. Party leaders describe the current administration under President Mahama as “very incompetent” and say the NPP is fully ready to take charge again.

Haruna Mohammed, the party’s Deputy General Secretary, made these remarks on Joy News’ PM Express on Wednesday, April 16. He stated that the NPP has moved from reflection to action.

“We are very focused, very determined, and very sure,” Haruna said. “Based on earlier discussions before the report was presented, we are ready to fight in 2028.”

The party’s National Council recently reviewed a report from a special committee led by Professor Mike Ocquaye. The committee examined two main issues: the causes of the NPP’s 2024 defeat and possible internal reforms.

“On January 2, our National Council created an ad hoc committee,” Haruna explained. “The committee had two tasks: first, to analyze why we lost in 2024, and second, to suggest amendments and restructuring.”

The team worked for three months and submitted its report on April 16.

Before this, the National Executive Committee met to handle other matters. Afterward, they moved to the Council meeting, where the report was officially presented.

Haruna said the atmosphere during the meeting showed the party’s strong resolve.

“Everyone was focused and confident. It shows how ready we are to take back power from this very incompetent government,” he said.

He didn’t hold back in his criticism. “This government must go. The NPP is coming back,” he added.

Haruna believes the NPP’s revival aligns with its long-standing principles. “The people’s movement reflects the NPP’s tradition and history,” he emphasized.

He concluded by saying the party is no longer dwelling on the past. “We know what went wrong. Now we are rising again,” he declared.
