NPP’s 2024 Defeat: Justin Kodua Shares Insights on Mike Oquaye Findings

Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has offered fresh insight into why the party lost the 2024 elections, based on findings from the Mike Oquaye Committee.

Speaking to stakeholders during the NPP’s Thank You Tour in the Western Region, led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Kodua explained that the full report remains confidential for “strategic reasons.

”However, he stressed that key figures needed to understand the major causes of the defeat to implement the committee’s recommendations effectively.

Mr. Kodua revealed several critical issues behind the loss. He pointed to the government’s failure to prioritize projects in strongholds, a weakened relationship between the party and the government, arrogance among some officials, and persistent internal conflicts.

Stakeholders listening to Mr. Kodua agreed with his points, having previously shared similar concerns during the committee’s investigations.

He urged the party to adopt the recommendations quickly. To support this, the leadership has formed a Constitutional Review Committee and called on members to submit their proposals for reforms.
