The Wa Circuit Court has handed a seven-year jail sentence to Mohammed Abudi, a young man from Guli in the Wa Municipality, for defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Abudi confessed to the crime when he appeared in court on April 23, 2025. His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo presided over the case and delivered the sentence.

The Upper West Regional Police Command reported that Abudi committed the crime on April 11, 2025. Officers arrested him two days later, on April 13, 2025.

The Command urged the public to avoid such offences and warned that the law will deal harshly with perpetrators.
